I haven't updated this in a while...Therefore, I think it's time to "shut down" this Xanga. I no longer have the time nor want/need to post here. Besides, no one really comes by anymore. Only web crawlers and the like.

I'll leave it up, but I doubt if I'll ever update it again. (The subscription ends in 3-4 months, so it'll look like junk after that.) People don't really use this anymore anyway. It's all about Facebook and MySpace these days, anyway. While I don't always like to follow the crowd, it's hard not to keep up with the times. These are just fads anyways.

Besides, I'm on Facebook. If you really want to get a hold of me, that's where you'll find me. (Fuck MySpace - it's just a waste of internet space. A HUGE waste of space...But then again, that's what I initially said about Xanga).

So I guess this is the last post on AzN_Ho.ChaoticReflctions.Xanga. It's been a great run for the last 3 years or so. I hope everyone enjoyed my rants, raves, random entries, and whatever flowed from my mind, through my fingers, and on to your screens. Thanks for all the comments, suggestions, advice, and etc. from over the years.

So without further ado...

Computer illiterate people drive me crazy.

Personally, in such an age of digital information and technology, I do not understand how people can be so stupid when it comes to computers. Windows, and most other GUI OSs, have been so dumbed down. All you have to do is double-click and "voila!" there it is. I realize that I was born in the digital age and have been working with computers since I was about 5 years old. But to not be able to save documents, open programs, browse the internet, and use e-mail - the most basic of the basic - is just ridiculous.

People just freeze up when they see a computer, like a deer in the headlights. Why be afraid of the computer? It can't do anything without the person. Especially when all the user interfaces are so easy to use, there should be no reason to be afraid of it.

These are the people who need to be in my CSIS 110 class, not me. These are the people who need to learn how to turn on/off computer, what the internet does, how to open programs, save/edit documents, etc.

I don't understand how these tech guys can handle this. I really don't. Sadly, helping mom do e-mail (EVERYTIME) pisses me off.

*sigh*

My laptop decided to crash today. Only 4 months ater I bought it, I had to unwillingly reformat and recover the HD. Strangely enough, this happens after I defrag the HD and run a DiskCheck.

I wanted to partition my HD so I could run a dual-boot XP and Vista. I was going to use PartitionMagic to create a partition on-the-fly, but it said I had some disk errors. So I figured DiskCheck would fix em. I guess not. I let the program do its thing while I played my PSP (I finally finished Legend of Heroes: A Tear of Vermillion!). I occasionally glanced at my laptop to check the progress. Since I was nearing the end of the game, I stopped checking the status. Eventually, I kept hearing the latop restart itself. Perplexed, I check out the computer. For some reason, some BSOD (Blue Screen of Death for those not-so-computer-saavy) kept coming up, but I couldn't read it because the system would restart itself too fast.

I tried to reboot in safe mode, last good configuration, etc. to no avail. So I decided to pop in the restore CDs and just reformat/reinstall. I didn't lose too much data (I think). I purchased a travel external drive about a month ago and moved all my music, pictures, and movies to it. Unfortunately, I didn't move a lot of the documents - school work, reciepts, and other important documents. But I can live without it. It wasn't much, anyway.

Ironically, this loss of data occurred while I was thinking about turning my desktop into a "file server." I figured that I could buy a few HDs, shove em in the unit, and just use it to host files for the network/make back-ups. I was even checking out prices for HDs while the DiskCheck was running! I suppose I'll have to look into this matter more seriously, now.

Anyway, I'm not really pissed off or anything. I'm more annoyed because now I have to reinstall everything (which is what I'm doing now). This is going to take a few hours that I really didn't want to devote to this. *Sigh* Oh well...I don't understand the Computer Gods and their strange logic...

I think that's a decent entry on my current events blog. I encourage you (the few who still come around) to read it.

Anyway, I'm sitting in the computer lab. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I have a two-hour break between my Geology class and Pre-Calc class. I still have an hour left. Kinda bored, actually.

School's still going. And I'm actually not sick of it yet. Well, I'm kinda sick of my CSIS class...It's so damn stupid. If you're major is eventually going to be computer science/programming/engineering, than you should have a pretty good background in computer components, internet/network know-how, and other "basic" computer skills. Needless to say, I have a 100% in there.

Back at home, things are going alright - taking care of the house and all. My parents are still in the Philippines, but are probably coming home by next Tuesday at the latest, I think. Chad is actually starting to pitch in, but that's because he wants me to drive him places this weekend. I got fed up with him during the weekend because he wasn't doing anything around the house, other than making a mess of it. So I told him he couldn't have friends over and that I wouldn't drive him to/from anywhere that wasn't school-related. He could go wherever, but he needed his own transportation. Threats always work, but I wish I didn't have to be such an asshole.

So all-in-all, everything is pretty cool. No crises or anything. So I think that's all for now...

This has not been in a good year for either the Rafol family (my dad's side) or the Dela Merced family (my mom's side). My grandmother on my mom's side died yesterday in the Phillipines. She died from complications from a recent surgery to remove her gallbladder. My family is thinking this isn't exactly from natural causes (She had major heart surgery a year ago and was walking around the next day. This time she dies from a gallbladder operation?). I'm not sure how old she was.

On my dad's side, my grandfather died back in March. His death was from natural causes (he was 88 and was suffering from many ailments to begin with). He dies in Los Angeles, but I couldn't go to the funeral because of school.

This leaves me with one grandparent left - my grandmother on my dad's side. I never my mom's father - he was shot and killed before I was born.

The family is working out the details of everything, but it looks like my grandmother will her final resting place in the Phillipines. I may or may not go. It all depends on my parents. I don't think school would be such a major problem, but I'll have to see.

I've noticed that strange woman have been coming to my Xanga. They remind me of those spam e-mails, "Hi my name is Trixy and I love romantic walks on the beach." Great...Xanga spammers, just what we all need.

I've also noticed that someone has put me on their RSS aggregator or whatever. Who is that? Who's been reading, but won't comment?

I love all this new tracking stuff. Makes it so much easier to see who's coming by and not leaving comments, heh.

So this is already the second week of school. There are approximately 16 weeks (I haven't counted, but that's the usual) in a semester so I am almost 1/8 the way through this semester! Ha, sad that I'm already counting down the days til the Winter Break (see the counter at the top right?).

In all fairness, I'm not really tired of school...yet. My classes are all pretty easy (I'm taking a freaking computer "concept" class that includes topics such as "What is a browser?" and "Using E-mail"). I wish I could have tested out of that computer class, but it was practically too late.

I hope everyone's studies are going well if you're in school. If not, well I hope that work or life in general is going well.

So school started today. I like my Geology instructor. He's seems pretty cool. Has a sense of humor. And the people look alright, too. Except for this one chick who sat in front of me, one seat to the left. She seemed like one of those super-opinionated persons who doesn't care what anyone else thinks. At least the vibe I got from her when she spoke.

My Pre-Calc (yes, I'm taking pre-calc. I want to make sure I'm ready for Calc.) instructor seems a little more straightforward, but overall, not a bady guy. I think I'll learn more than what Po taught me in high school...that is if he taught me anything.

I still have one more class to check out - my computer class. It's a MWF class. I'm not exactly sure what to call it. It's more of a concept class. But I wouldn't exactly call it basic, either. Our textbook has things in there that I don't know much about and other things in which I know lots about. Either way, I don't think it'll be useless. I'm hoping, anyway.

My Premium Xanga ends in September or something. I won't be renewing. I rarely touch this place these days and rarely anyone ever reads/comments, so I think I'll just drop back down to the free account.

I'm trying to limit my money outflow because I may buy a car soon and I need as much money as possible. I may have to start paying my insurance as well, so this will put a severe strain on my wallet.

Anyway, school is starting soon. Some people have already left, while others are in the process of. But not me. I'm still in here in Lee's Summit. I'll be attending Longview this year, and maybe even next (07-08). I'm not so sure about next year because my parents want to move...again. But no worries - even if they move out-of-state, there's a 95% chance I'll still be in Missouri - not sure where, though.

If you're going to Longview, give me a call, or perhaps I'll see you there. For those of you heading elsewhere, good luck to you and have fun.
